Summer Space Reads: 8 Books to Explore the Universe [bestandroiddoubledinheadunit950.blogspot.com]

Originally published together in 1950, this connected series of short stories by science fiction master Ray Bradbury is easy to pick up and put down as you finish each story. But the eerie, ancient world of Mars and the trials of the humans who colonize it will draw you back again and again.

For going on a Bradbury binge, Space.com staff writer Calla Cofield recommends any of the author’s short story collections, including his famous “The Illustrated Man” (Doubleday, 1951).

“The experience of childhood is at the heart of most of Bradbury’s writing, so it’s always great to revisit him during summer when you let your inner child out,” she added. “Really, though, summer is time to read ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ (Simon & Schuster, 1962) and ‘Dandelion Wine,’ (Doubleday, 1957) because they’re both about being kids in summer.”
