“On Saturday, May 21st, at 5:00 PM PDT | 8:00 PM EDT | 00:00UTC (International Times: http://bit.ly/1siTmXJ), Slooh and “The Old Farmer’s Almanac” will be teaming up to bring viewers a live look at the seasonal Blue Moon through Slooh’s Canary Islands Observatory.
Slooh will webcast the event from its flagship observatory at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands, where it’s telescopes were officially inaugurated by King Felipe VI of Spain last year. Slooh’s new observatory in the Canary Islands is set to launch later this month, featuring two telescopes from Celestron, the world’s leading manufacturer of optical equipment and longtime supporter of Slooh.

Which of these lunar displays is your favorite skywatching treat?
During the live broadcast, Slooh Host, Paul Cox, and Slooh Astronomer, and Astronomy Editor for “The Old Farmer’s Almanac,” Bob Berman, will be joined by Janice Stillman, Editor of “The Old Farmer’s Almanac.” They’ll discuss what exactly a Blue Moon is, how this particular Full Moon got the name “Full Flower Moon,” and even how the placement of the Moon was once a key piece of evidence in a murder trial.
“This webcast marks the newest installment in a partnership between Slooh and The Old Farmer’s Almanac, with a mission to connect each other’s audiences to the miraculous ebb and flow of nature as caused by celestial bodies; moments of wonder we all take for granted but are no less delighted to be exposed to again and again.
Viewers can ask questions during the show by sending them to @Slooh on Twitter, or by joining us in our live chat on Slooh.com.”
