Weight loss can begin with breakfast if you follow one of Heidi Klum’s rules for staying slim in your 40s.

The model revealed to Women’s Health that she stats every day with a green smoothie.

She even keeps veg ready and cut up in the fridge to make the healthy drink at 6 am.

She told the magazine: “One thing [the kids and I] do every morning is have a smoothie.”

Smoothies are packed with fruit and veg, so fill you up with vitamins and minerals for the day. 

What do experts think of Heidi’s choice of breakfast? 

Thomas M. Campbell, MD is the medical director of the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, claims that smoothies can be good for you – provided you use the right ingredients.

The expert also adds that maybe you shouldn’t have one every day.

On his website, he claims that a healthy smoothie of 218 calories would include spinach, water, orange juice, strawberries, blueberries and a banana.

However, he adds they may have a lot of hidden sugar.

“But the bottom line is this: Use your mouth and your teeth the way nature intended and put the smoothies aside or have them just as treats,” he said.

However, it seems to work for Heidi, although you should consult your doctor or dentist if you are concerned about a new diet regimen. 

Some experts claim eating what you would usually have for dinner for breakfast could help on your slimming down journey.

Research from Loma Linda University suggests the best way to lose weight comes down to the frequency and timing of meals. 

Dr. Hana Kehleova, one of the study’s authors, said the bottom line is to make breakfast the biggest meal of the day, have a medium lunch and then a small dinner. 

Data from more than 50,000 adults was collected by researchers at the university to form the study.
