The paleo diet is also known as the caveman diet, and can now be credited for the Victoria’s Secret models’ figures – or so their trainer claims.

Justin Gelband, a celebrity personal trainer, has worked with Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel, Irina Shaik, Karlie Kloss and Martha Hunt, all of whom have walked the prestigious Victoria’s Secret catwalk.

He claims the paleo diet is the key to getting the highly-paid models in shape before shows.

He told Business Insider that he “makes them eat” so that the models have the energy to complete gruelling workouts.

He added that other diets, such as juicing, can actually cause models to gain weight. 

“At Fashion Week some models went on a juice diet and didn’t tell me. Not one lost weight, some actually gained weight. That got me in big trouble,” he said.

So what is the paleo diet?

The diet is said to be similar to that of what ancient man ate, which is why advocates claim it is so good for the body.

This means those on the diet cannot eat anything that is produced through agriculture and modern farming practises, so dairy and wheat it out.

Foods that would have been found while foraging and hunting are the only ingredients on the menu. 

The paleo diet appeared in the NHS’s most popular diets 2017 reviews.

It said: “The paleo diet encourages you to eat less processed food and more fruit and vegetables.

“Reducing your consumption of high-calorie foods will reduce your calorie intake and help you lose weight. 

A study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that the diet not only improve weight loss but improved blood pressure.

They wrote: “Even short-term consumption of a Paleolithic-type diet improved glucose control and lipid profiles in people with type 2 diabetes compared with a conventional diet containing moderate salt intake, low-fat dairy, whole grains and legumes.”

A typical day for someone following a paleo diet may include eggs and vegetables for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, and salmon and vegetables for dinner. 

However, recently experts have warned its a highly restrictive meal plan.
