Paula Deen, 71, is a US celebrity chef, best known for her Food Network show, Paula’s Home Cooking.

She has also appeared in Hollywood films and was a contestant on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

After she was diagnosed with type two diabetes, Paula decided to turn her life around, giving her diet a major overhaul.

Once dining on meals such as chicken fried steak, mashed potato, bacon, “biscuits” and glugs of gravy, Paula has now cut a certain colour out of her diet.

Paula began her weight-loss journey by taking drastic measures in her kitchen, coming home one day and throwing out much of the contents of her cupboards.

Talking on the hit US show The Doctor Oz show, Paula revealed how she went into high gear after her diabetes diagnosis, saying: “Initially I went home to my kitchen and threw out everything that was white.

“White bread, white rice, white potatoes and white pasta. The thing that I’m trying to really focus on is moderation, moderation, moderation! You know, eat a cookie, just don’t eat six of them.”

Paula stuck to her none-white diet for four months, loosing between 35 and 40 pounds.

Once her weight stabilised she began overhauling her diet and lifestyle in a more sustainable fashion, focusing on lean meat, vegetables and the occasional sweet treat.

The 71-year-old also revealed her trick to combatting sugar cravings, explaining that she sucks on a small amount of butterscotch for 10 minutes.

Along with her husband Michael, Paula now eats dinners of steak and grilled vegetables, which she carefully weighs out on a scale before cooking.

When cooking her famously indulgent recipes for herself, Paula also makes small, smart changes, such as swapping mayonnaise for yoghurt.

She also semi maintains her “no-white” rule, only allowing herself bread on weekends and occasions.

While she now restricts her treat intake, Paula revealed she couldn’t give up her favourite foods – but now only eats them on special occasions.

Her favourite foods include fried pies, peanut butter pie and fried green tomatoes – of which she will never make healthy substitutions. “Some things are just best left alone,” she said to Women’s Day.

Another celebrity who has managed to avoid the temptation and cut down on her sugar intake is British TV presenter Davina McCall.

Davina has recently got into the best shape of her life, following her split from husband of 17 years Matthew Robertson in 2017.

Since the split she has focused a lot of her time and attention on her body, shedding pounds and achieving an incredibly toned physique.

The presenter has even released her own fitness DVD and launched a line of fitness equipment.

Talking to The Sun, the 50-year-old explained that she had cut sugar out of her diet, saying: “I used to have a sugar addiction. I could eat 10 packets of Haribo a night but I eventually cut sugar out of my diet.”
