The PT claims sleep is the best way to ensure you hit your fitness goals.

She said: “When you feel rested, your hormones behave and help to prop up all the other necessary pillars to help you achieve your goals.”

In other words, without sleep, anything else you do won’t achieve maximum results.

Parker’s services usually cost a whopping £4,500 for a six week one to one overhaul.

But she revealed her top six tips to the Telegraph for those struggling with their weight loss and health goals in the new year.

As well as the key pillar of sleep, Parker advised those making changes to break the year up into chunks.

She said: “If it’s easier, make one lifestyle change per week and ease yourself in gently rather than dramatically changing your life and struggling to stick with it.”

In a similar vein, Parker also said any new lifestyle shouldn’t feel restrictive: “Your new routine shouldn’t confine you and you should still be able to go out, socialise and travel. You definitely shouldn’t be hungry or feel exhausted.”

But that doesn’t mean slacking off – Parker advises clients to be ambitious.

She said: “Be ambitious, otherwise your excitement and motivation won’t take off in that initial swell.

“Your goals do also need to fit into the reality of your life, but challenging yourself will help you stick to them.”

The PT also follows the popular idea of a training buddy.

She said: “Once you’ve set clear, tangible goals and find someone to be accountable it.

“It’s so very important and can be the difference between a flash in the pan and a lasting life change.”

Finally, Louise advised to research what you are doing and why it will work as this will encourage you to stick with it.

She said: “Make sure that your target is grounded in science and is practical, or you won’t buy into what you’re doing.”
